He is, among other things, a co-author of the publication Monetary Integration – Costs and Benefits of Membership in the Monetary Union. He prepares economic discussions for clients of the ČSOB Group under the title Morning Coffee with Jan Bureš.

The origin of the word can be found in the Hebrew word shabbat , which translates as rest. Sabbaticals used to be a privilege of academics . Professors could take paid time off after a certain period of time to study, travel, or do research. Over time, sabbaticals began to be popular in business and corporate environments as well.
